Melted crayon art - wall decor on budget

You need not be a painter to design a cool wall decor for your home. Melted crayon art is a colorful canvas art to avoid pricey paintings from stores. There are so many tutorials out there in youtube and blogs, the difference here is there are no crayons attached to the canvas once the painting is done.

So all you need here is

1. A white canvas (18x24 used here) - Michaels (US)
2. Two 24 pack crayons instead of 64 pack crayons - Michaels (US)
3. Glue gun - Michaels (US)
4. Hair Dryer
5. Shipping box from Amazon/Google Express etc
6. Silhouette printed on A4 paper (if any)
7. Quotation printed (if any)
8. Newspaper and old clothes to protect the surroundings

Step 1:
Cut the shipping box in such a way that two flaps remains. One to attach the crayons and the other smaller one to stick to top frame of the canvas. In this way crayons need not to be attached to the canvas, getting a better look of the painting.

   Step 2:
Arrange the crayons to match the width of the canvas. I prefer to arrange in rainbow order. Attach the crayons to one flap of the cardboard with hot glue gun, making sure one half of the crayons are not sticked to the cardboard. This crayon half would be placed on the canvas.

Step 3:
Place the smaller flap of the cardboard over top of the canvas and stick it using hot glue gun. This will ensure crayons are not directly sticked to the canvas but will remain close to the canvas.

Step 4:
Cut the silhouette/quotation from the print paper and stick to the canvas.

Step 5:
Protect your work area with newspaper because wax is going to splash all over.
Using the hair dryer heat the crayons. Colors are going to drain down. You can orient them in the canvas to get a mixed shade or let them drip down without mixing.
Rest is magic :-)

Here is how it looks after all the hard work.
